God created you, loves you, and wants you to know Him personally. God exists, and He will reward
you as you seek to know Him. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you can
know God personally.
1. Realize that Jesus Christ is the only way to receive forgiveness and to know God. He is the only
way to the Father. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).
2. Realize that you have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). This sin results
in death … eternal death and separation from God (Romans 6:23). Decide to turn from this sin as
you turn toward God.
3. Accept God's free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Do this by
confessing with your mouth "Jesus is Lord!" and believing in your heart that God raised Him from
the dead (Romans 10:9). The Bible says that if you do these two things you will be saved:
1) BELIEVE that God loves you so much that Jesus actually died for your sins, was buried, and was
raised from the dead to ascend to heaven, 2) CONFESS aloud with your mouth, asking Him to be
your own personal Lord, then acknowledging Him as such. After you take these steps to salvation,
I would like to suggest that you follow through with these actions:
A. Open your heart and talk to Jesus as candidly as possible, talking to Him as you would your
best friend. You don't need fancy prayers or code words. Come to Him as you are and just be
yourself, trusting Him to forgive you and make you a brand new person in your heart. You will
sense His presence more if you talk to Him ALOUD rather than just thinking your prayer in your
mind.
B. Be sure to tell Him that you believe that God raised Him from the dead, and invite Him to take
control of your life from this moment forward. Keep talking to Him for awhile; He loves to hear you
sincerely share your life with Him. He listens to YOU! He loves ordinary people just like you and I.
C. Each day, thank Him for the fact that you are now saved! Each day, read in the Bible and pray
to God. It is best to begin your Bible reading as a new Christian by reading in the New Testament.
If you need help finding a good Bible reading plan, please contact us and we will help you find one
that works for you. There are many good translations of the Bible available in bookstores; I
suggest that you begin by reading one in a modern, easy-to-understand language.
D. Become part of a lively contemporary church where you can receive water baptism. Fellowship
with your new family of believers as often as possible.
Now you can receive God's second free gift from your Lord Jesus Christ: The Baptism of the Holy
Spirit and fire! Begin the process of maturing as a Christian, and keep growing for the rest of your
life!
