WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU ATTEND OUR SERVICES
Our Sunday morning services begin at 10:00 am and
generally end by 12:30 pm. You will be welcome
regardless of how you are dressed! At Word of Truth
people attend our services in the clothes in which they
are most comfortable meeting with God and His people.
Some people enjoy dressing up for our services; others
enjoy attending in t-shirts and blue jeans. Come dressed
modestly, of course, but come prepared to be comfortable
as you worship with us.
Our building is on Winchester Road, between Pulaski Pike and Blue Springs Road. The front of
the sanctuary faces the street, with the door and main parking behind the building. There is a
driveway on each side of the building, either of which you may use to enter. Our greeters at the
door will direct you to the sanctuary, which is directly down the hall from the door. To the right
on the entrance hall are our church offices; while to the left are our nurseries. If you need any
help, one of our Greeters or Ushers will be happy to assist you!
On Sunday mornings, our children usually sit with their parents through the praise-and-worship
service. When they are dismissed for Children's Church, which is in the building next door to
the sanctuary, teachers will lead them to the correct classroom. If your child desires that you
help them get settled in to their classroom, please feel free to walk over with them. Our
Children's Church teachers are committed to their work, and are prepared to minister God's
Word to your children at their own level of maturity and retention. Children's Church is for boys
and girls up to age twelve. For older children, there is a class and a Rhythm Band that meets
upstairs in the main building at the same time as Children's Church. A teacher will walk with
them upstairs as soon as the announcement is made after the worship service. We ask that
you go to their classrooms to get your children as soon as the service is over.

On Sunday mornings we usually begin with praise and worship. Our praise service
includes both contemporary music and hymns. We try to include a variety of cultural musical
styles.
Other elements in the service may include:
-- Testimonies from the congregation,
-- Prayer for people with needs,
-- Tithes and offering time,
-- Announcements,
-- Sermon.
Usually there is teaching of the Word, but occasionally the Holy Spirit will move in a different
direction. Often the gifts of the Spirit manifest through prophecy, words of knowledge and
wisdom, and the gift of tongues and interpretation.
The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday at Word of Truth. Ushers pass out the
Communion elements, and then Bishop Bob leads us in worshipping God for all He has done for
us. Everyone who knows Jesus as Lord and Savior is welcome to partake of our Communion with
us. On that day we also take up a special offering for support of Missions.
On Wednesday night our services begin at 7:00 pm and end around 8:30 pm. Our children and
youth meet at the same time, in the building next door. This group is for all children through
teenagers/college age.
Our Wednesday night service consists of a short praise and worship service, followed by
teaching from the Word. Usually Bishop Bob teaches a short series on Wednesday nights,
separate from his Sunday morning teaching. This is our night for detailed Bible teaching to help
us more fully understand a topic from the Bible and its application to our lives.
Teaching tapes or CD's are available for purchase after each service if you want to hear the
message again, on Sundays and on Wednesdays. We also have a Tape-of-the-Month plan, by
which you maypurchase all tapes of that month, or all the Sunday tapes, or all of the Wednesday
tapes. Our Tape Room is in the back of the sanctuary should you desire further information.
At Word of Truth our people come from a variety of cultures, races, nations, backgrounds, and
professions. Many have come to WOT from other Christian denominations and churches. We
have single, married, widowed, and divorced people. A few of the professions represented
among our members include: medical doctor, dentist, computer engineer, landscape
professional, industrial hygienist, factory workers, as well as students and housewives. Our
personalities are varied; but we come together as a team to lavishly worship Jesus, as well as to
learn how to actively and aggressively apply the Word of God to every moment of our daily lives.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is present at each of our services at WOT. We believe that each of
us can access His power, just as we have access to electric current. When a person comes into
contact with electric current often shock results and the person will jump, shake, or scream. The
Holy Spirit's power is much like electricity, except that His power always achieves positive
results (Acts 1:8). People come into contact with His power during our services, with varying
manifestations: Sometimes they are healed and receive miracles, sometimes they scream or
shake or fall to the ground, and sometimes they do not physically feel anything. At Word of Truth
we want people to experience God and be touched by God. We believe that God is real; and
because He is real He can be felt and experienced. A person's reaction to this experience may
be lively and energetic or very quiet. Experiencing God differs from person to person…. But we
hope that you will experience God in some way at each of our services that you attend!
