PHILOSOPHY OF THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE PROGRAM

We believe that young children learn best through exploring their environment, interactive
teaching with hands on material, active play, and varied materials and methodologies for the
preschool child. We believe that exercise through playing outdoors helps develop strength,
coordination, and a healthy body. Indoor play develops hand eye coordination and cooperation
as well as cognitive and social skills. Being read to, having books available along with direction
from teachers in phonetic pronunciation prepares the child for successful reading and a love for
reading. We will pull from many different curriculums and styles of teaching to create the best
mix we can to promote each child's individual style.

It is our philosophy to help each child to develop mentally, cognitively, emotionally, spiritually,
academically and socially as much as we can, and do it in a safe, loving and caring
environment.

Our daycare rooms were designed with observation in mind. Each one can be observed at
anytime by parents or authorized persons. Two classrooms have one-way glass so you can
observe without being seen or heard. One classroom has several regular windows for
observation. It is our goal for you to be able to come and watch your child at any time as well
as evaluate to your satisfaction the care being delivered.

Daycare activities will include age appropriate: language development including phonics, math
concepts, shapes, colors, Foreign Language, music, art, crafts, Bible lessons, computer,
science, indoor and our door free play, puppets, dramatic play, safety, health, self-care skills,
educational material, character development, social skills, nature, problem solving, creative
time, and story time.

Our property at the daycare site includes five and one-half acres of land. In addition to our ADT
Security System, all of our entrances are kept locked and no one is allowed to enter the
building without identifying himself or herself. This is for the safety of all the children and staff.

We have two large separate playground areas that are attached to the building at the entrance
for safety. We have different playground equipment for different ages and abilities. Playground
time is always supervised. We continue to maintain our playground equipment. Our building
has and maintains current fire inspections, with permit on file. Our building is fitted with fire
detection devices and system to alarm of any problem. The areas in the halls of the daycare
are fitted with fire Department approved wire filled glass for fire safety. We do have fire drills
that all staff and children must participate in regularly.

Health Policies:
Immunizations: All children will be up to date on all their immunizations and have an
up-to-date blue card from a physician of the health department at the time of enrollment. All
children in the daycare should receive yearly influenza shots during flu season to prevent
outbreak in the daycare.

Dismissals:
Gingerbread House Program reserves the right to terminate a child's enrollment if the Director
decides it is not in the best interest of the child and/or Gingerbread House Program to continue
enrollment.
